How to Create Geometric Patterns with Different Mediums www.thediyday.com @thediyday

I’ve been into geometric prints like crazy. A few weeks ago I did a watercolor geometric print with washi tape, glue and glitter, see that post here.

My love for the look sparked my interest to create a notebook layout with a geometric pattern, similar to the watercolor but different. This time around I am using a drawing pen, ruler, and colored pencils. I’m using different shades of purple and instead of having a white layer separating each pattern, I’m using a thin black line. It’s that easy. Check it out.

Supplies

Step One

I sectioned off a portion of my notebook that I wanted for my pattern. Then with my ruler and drawing pen, I drew many types of triangles in various sizes.

Step Two

Next, I colored the triangles with four different shades of colored pencils.

Step Three

After each section was colored, I drew eight equal sized squares and lettered the month with a purple brush pen (685). Then, I colored the top portion of the word with a dark purple marker.

Step Four

Last, I placed my number stamps from The Sassy Club onto my acrylic block, inked it with my stamp ink, and stamped each box with it’s corresponding date.
