The walls in my office are bare. So bare in fact that I am finally framing something I created.

When I create, I never ever keep it. I usually sell it or send it to friends or family. The cards I make are categorized and filed in a box, ready for mailing when the occasion calls.

But this creation was different. I’ve been toying with the possibility of painting one of my walls. And what better way to do that than to create a smaller version of an idea before committing to a larger scale?

This watercolor is a perfect rendition of what I am imagining, all white walls and one purple accent wall (minus the glitter parts).

Anyway, we’ll see what happens. As for now, this is a possibility.

Supplies

Step One

First, I placed washi tape in various directions onto watercolor paper. Heavier watercolor paper works best to avoid paper curling. Also, if the washi tape is too sticky, run the tape along a pair of jeans to help remove some of the stickiness.

Step Two

Next, I turned my brush pens into watercolors. I colored various purple pens (636, 676, 606) onto a sheet protector (a ceramic plate or sandwich bag works too). Then I wet my brush, swept the brush onto one of the purples, and painted the watercolor paper. I continued this process with different shades of purple (leaving some spaces blank). Allow the watercolor to dry before proceeding.

Step Three

In the remaining blank spaces – I covered the area with glue and sprinkled purple glitter right on top. Dust off any excess and gently remove the washi tape.
