In a few weeks I’ll be celebrating my birthdayversary. What’s a birthdayversary?

The Unofficial Definition

birth·day·ver·sa·ry

/ˈbərTHˌdāˈvərs(ə)rē/

noun
noun: birthdayversary; plural noun: birthdayversaries

  • when a birthday and anniversary fall on the same day

So, to celebrate this wonderful occasion my husband and I will be heading to the happiest place on earth, Hawaii.

After what happened earlier this week with the stingray (read about that episode here), I’m really curious how cautious and nervous I’ll be in the water?!?

Well anyway, I made this bag to carry some brush markers, pens, and other art necessities I need while on vacation. I’m not sure how much lettering I’ll do, but I’m guessing I’ll get some done during the flight!

I bought this cute little bag (this bag set is similar) at Hobby Lobby (in the clearance section).

I was debating whether or not to write out the word Aloha freehand or to draw lines to make the word straight. In the end, I decided to draw straight lines with chalk.

With the same chalk, I wrote out the letters A, L, H, and A.

For the “O” in Aloha I ironed on a glittery pineapple applique (similar) by Momenta (Hobby Lobby has it).

Then, I painted in the letters with some white acrylic paint. I didn’t have a brush specifically for acrylic paint, so I used one of my old junk brushes.

Once dried, I removed the remaining chalk marks with a baby wipe.

This was such an easy project to make and it really made a plain bag look super cute. Perfect to hold some stationery supplies.
