Huh? Yeah, that is what I call it. In my family, we celebrate my dad’s birthday and Father’s Day all in one day. Both events sometimes fall on the same day or within a few days from each other so we do a combo party.

Anyway, my dad is awesome. Consider this for a second. He had 4 kids. My brother is the oldest, and then after that he had 3 girls – three girls (major emphasis on that). At one point all three girls were teenagers at the same time…talk about this nightmare –

  1. Having to deal with us in general.
  2. Factor in the teenage drama.
  3. And then add in all the years of PMS!!

So, on this father’s birth’Day’, I say thank you to my dad and his patience.

I started with these cupcake rubber stamps and this acrylic block set.

After I stamped the cupcake with black ink onto watercolor paper, I decided to use watercolors to paint it in.  To accomplish this task I used some of my favorite sets of brush markers, Tombow’s and Uchida with a waterbrush.

After the cupcake dried completely, I decided to emboss the sprinkles (for more info on embossing, watch my YouTube video).  To achieve this effect I used a powder bag, an embossing pen, some white embossing powder, and a heat gun (similar).

For the main part of the card, I was deciding between maintaining a plain white cardstock vs. using textured cardstock.  I went with texture.  The texture effect was made with the Big Shot Sizzix Machine and an embossing folder.

I personalized the card a bit more by writing happy birthday with this pen.

Last, I took the most manly-ish colored paper I had, glued it to the front of the card and added some manly blue ribbon and bow (should manly and bow be in the same sentence?) to toughen up the card a bit more!
